Everyday Self-Care Essentials

Self-care is what you do to maintain your mental, physical, and emotional well-being. It's all about the way that you treat yourself. It is your responsibility to take care of yourself. So please be sure to make time for yourself. EVERYDAY.
I began a wellness journey at the beginning of this year. I made myself a priority. I have been focusing a lot on self-care and making time for it every day. Even if it's only 15 minutes. There are many ways to practice self-care. I have been trying out different self-care practices to find out what works best for me. Yoga, journaling, and reading have been major for me.
There are products that I use (almost) every day when I am making time for ME. These are my everyday self-care essentials.
Essential oils and diffuser
I just started getting into essential oils at the beginning of the year. I have only used them in my diffusers. I have one in my bedroom and I also bought one for my daughter's room. I diffuse lavender at night for her, which is for relaxation. The LED lights also serve as a cool night light in her room. I did not want to spend a lot of money on a diffuser because I was only experimenting. I found an inexpensive diffuser on Amazon made by URPOWER to get me started. I liked it so much that I bought a second one a few weeks later. This is the first set of essential oils that I purchased. I like trying different blends in the diffuser. It really helps set the mood.
My journal is a safe space to sort out all of the madness going on in my head. Journaling is a valuable outlet for me. The best part is that there are no rules. It allows you to organize and make sense of your thoughts. I recently wrote about my relationship with my journal.
I've been buying this amazing whipped vanilla shea butter from WMichelle Essentials. It keeps my skin soft, smooth, and moisturized. And it smells good too! I never feel well when I'm ashy. Keeping my skin silky smooth is important. Everyone in my household uses it. It has worked wonders on my daughter's eczema. I also use it on her hair.
Yoga has been so important to my daily self-care. It is a part of my morning routine. There are a lot of free yoga resources online. I use Yoga With Adriene on YouTube. DOYOUYOGA is also a very good resource. There are a lot of informational articles and instructional videos. It's a great place to start your yoga journey. All you need is a mat! Meditation is a common self-care practice. I do not meditate every day, although I would love to make that a habit. I like to use Calm for guided meditation. I recommend guided meditation for beginners, like myself. The lady's voice on the app is so soothing, which helps me focus on what she's saying. It keeps my mind from wandering. I usually forget where I am by the time the session ends.
A good book
I love to get lost in a good book. It's one of my favorite things to do in my free time. Lately, I've been trading in my tv time for reading. I just finished Issa Rae's The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl. I highly recommend it, if you are looking for a good laugh!
