20 Simple Ways to Practice Self-Care
Self-care doesn’t have to mean treating yourself to a spa day or a weekend getaway. Although that sounds lovely, it is not feasible for all of us. If we want to live our best lives, we need to incorporate self-care into our everyday routines. That means taking time out of our days to do activities that promote our mental, emotional, and physical health. There are many ways to practice self care everyday for little to no cost.
Here’s a list of simple ways to practice self-care.
Talk openly with someone you trust
Write in a journal
Meditate or do deep breathing exercises
Watch a tv show or movie that will make you laugh
Take a nap
Take a bubble bath
Spend time with your loved ones
Go for a walk/run
Read a good book
Go outside for fresh air
Get a good night’s sleep (7-8 hours)
Unplug - take a break from your phone, computer, and social media
Listen to music
Light scented candles or diffuse essential oils

Like everything else, self care takes practice. You can start by setting aside time each day to practice self care. It doesn’t take much time. Start with 15 minutes. Choose something on the list and spend 15 minutes doing it. Pencil yourself in on your calendar if you need to. Try to make this a part of your daily routine.
